I'm Discouraged

I had a very disappointing weigh-in at Weight Watchers last night - up almost 2 full pounds from last Tuesday night, according to their scale. It actually almost brought me to tears, since I thought I had done OK this week. So obviously it was an eye-opener and resulted in me re-thinking my weight loss strategy.

I had been using their Core Plan, which allows you to eat specific foods without tracking points or portion sizes (within reason). Since I am having only limited success (and now failure) on that plan and was not doing as well as I thought, I've now switched to the Flex Plan beginning today. The Flex Plan requires journaling all the food you eat and tracking the points values of everything.

Hopefully this will get me back on track for our weigh-in this Saturday morning. It worked for me in the past, it is just time-consuming. So I went through our pantry this morning, and began labeling the foods I eat with the point values on the boxes and cans, so I can just grab something when I'm hungry without having to stop and calculate the points every time. I also will take the Point Finder tool with me to the grocery store to calculate points before I buy something.

Here hoping for a better weigh-in on Saturday!

That is an excellent idea. I am on the flex plan also and I think I will do the same. Thank you.

Great attitude! I'm on the Flex Plan, too, but I have to admit I suck at tracking points. I'll do good for a day or two and then get busy and skip a day or I'll track breakfast and lunch and skip dinner. Still, even without tracking I know I'm still thinking about what's going in my mouth and I'm making better (if not the best) choices.

Good luck on Saturday!

Good luck! :)

Hang in there. I'm sure we will all have our ups and downs as we try to lose weight.

It is probably one of the hardest things to do and very hard to keep from getting discouraged.

Weight watchers was tough when I tried it.

I had to start really watching the portions. My 3 oz of steak was really like 16 oz.

Good luck because you still have a couple of day.

In the military we had a guy called Ex-lax because he used Ex-lax before the monthly weigh-ins. It worked for the 4 years I knew him.

Momster - it works for me, just saves a little time.

Stacy - thanks, good luck to you too!

RT - I already feel better today. I stuck to my points these last two days and actually, grimjack is going to start tracking his as well.

Admiral - ew, ex-lax. I guess people will try anything.

if it works for you, it's the right thing to do. Hope next week is better, Mrs. Grim !

First, don't panic. We all have until June, and no one can see you in winter clothes anyway.

Second, the Flex Plan will be more beneficial. I lost 30 pounds on it last time, and I am down 13 so far in three weeks. The first week or so will be really tough, but once you're over that hump, you'll get really comfortable with it.

I had to have a Mountain Dew on the way home from work because I wasn't hungry, and below my minimum points by three! I'm less hungry, and more active - plus, skating later today (Fri).

LA - nice to hear from you! Thanks!

Wyatt - I know, I over-reacted. I'm feeling a lot better now. Just needed to get back in control.
Good luck a tthe rink!

Keep working and progress will come! If it was easy, anyone could do it, and we'd all look like those models on TV (who starve themselves- Literally!)
